What to know about this Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza Card Game
The rules take about a minute to learn. Players take turns playing cards while chanting the game’s title in order: Taco, Cat, Goat, Cheese, Pizza, then back to Taco. When the spoken word matches the card just played, everyone races to slap the pile, and the last player to slap picks the pile up. Surprise action cards keep the game unpredictable, so even a comfortable lead can vanish in one round.
It is built for groups. The game suits 2-8 players aged 7 and over, and a round lasts around 10-15 minutes, so it fits easily between other activities at a family gathering or party. The deck is compact and lightweight, which makes it a natural travel game for holidays, weekends away and evenings with friends.
There is more to it than noise and laughter. Because players must watch every card, listen to every word and react in a split second, the game practises concentration, pattern recognition and fine motor coordination. It is screen-free, needs no batteries and no reading beyond the five words, so older children can play on equal terms with adults.
Cons
- The slap-the-pile rounds get fast and physical, so gentler players may find it rowdy, and it needs enough table room for everyone to reach the pile.
